MicroBirth is a 60 minute award-winning documentary, exploring the origins of the microbiome, the trillions of bacteria that live on and in us that could be critical for human health. This documentary was introduce by my new friend, Ms Kong Choon Yen whom we met in a workshop that both of us attended. Little did I know that Ms Kong a.k.a. Yen is a Certified Birth Doula, a Certified Infant Massage Instructor & a Certified HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator affiliated with the HypnoBirthing® Institute.

We started introducing each other and shared what business or services we are currently providing. She shared with me that she does speaking on topics like HypnoBirthing and this attracted me because I was looking for speakers for my upcoming Mother Industrialist Workshops.

After our first meet up, we fixed our next appointment and that was when Yen shared a lot about Hypnobirthing. I was intrigued and wanted to find out more. So Yen invited me to her next event which is called ‘MicroBirth — Good Beginnings’. At first I have no idea what event is this. There was a segment where we have to watch a featured length documentary of 60 minutes with discussion. I was so curious that I registered for the event because I want to find out what is this documentary all about.

On the day of the event, there were Birth Doulas, Holistic Practitioners, Nurses, Medical Professionals & Expectant Parents. When Yen started playing the documentary I began to understand why it is called Good Beginnings. The documentary had changed the way I view Birth. It gave me a deeper understanding of birth in a more scientific perspective as ‘MicroBirth’ shows the latest science which indicate that these interventions are affecting the development of a baby’s immune system. This will also affect the kids when they grew up.

These interventions are: used of synthetic oxytocin (Pitocin / Syntocinon) to induce or speed up labour, use of antibiotics, c-section, separation of mothers and babies preventing breastfeeding.

After the whole session, I realized the importance of sharing this knowledge and to raise this awareness with parents especially the new parents. That is the reason why I am inviting Yen to be one of the speakers for Mother Industrialist Workshops to share this.

The purpose of this session is to raise awareness of how a birth procedure has a direct impact on the health of the child life long and the possibility of avoiding a cesarean section.

With this awareness, I believe that new expectant parents will be able to create a good healthy beginning for their babies’ and reduces the chance of their children having all the childbirth illnesses such as asthma, Type-1 diabetes, obesity and other childhood health conditions.

This session is not just for parents, it is also suitable for families, Birth Professionals, Holistic Practitioners and anyone who is interested to learn more.

I am so honoured to invite Yen as the speaker for our next workshop on the 4th February 2018, 3pm to 6pm. It will be held at Beauty.Mums & Babies’s Yoga Room. Seats are limited so register now!

In this Mothering workshop we will be covering another Topic on ‘Hypnobirthing — Is C-section the only birthing way?’

Yen will guide new parents and share with them what they need to know about giving birth in Singapore. She will be addressing the common myths of Pregnancy and ‘Is giving birth painful-where does this pain come from?’. What is the husband’s role? How can the husband support? What types of Birth are there and what are your options in Singapore hospitals? Yen shares how you can get support from holistic practitioners like her and she will guide you what to do during labour.

Mommies, there is always a better way to give birth in Singapore and definitely C-section is not the only way. Join us this Sunday, 4th February 2018 from 3pm to 6pm. Share with your friends and tag those who are expecting or planning for number 2.

This workshop is co-organised by Mother Industrialist and SG Baby Club. It will be hosted by Kenneth Choo, Author of Mother Industrialist.

See you this coming Sunday.
